Memoir, ca. 1943-2001.

Contains a handwritten letter commenting on the relationship Olsen maintained with his family and church throughout the war. Also contains a memoir outlining Olsen's life, with twenty-five pages devoted to his military service. Discusses his induction into the Navy, his training as both an airplane mechanic and a machine gunner, and his impressions of life in military camps and in Oklahoma City. Records his impressions gathered from watching fatal training accidents involving his comrades. Includes numerous details of B-24 mechanics and accounts of his many training flights. Never seeing combat, he was sent to England to salvage old B-24 Liberator bombers and bring them back to America. Also includes details of his post-war responsibilities in the Navy, primarily logistic in nature, in Europe and North Africa. Includes a description of the weather, natives, and living conditions in Morocco. Also discusses his attitudes towards veterans and the honor they deserve. One photograph in the appendix shows Olsen in full military dress.
